FAQ
General & Purchasing FAQs
Where can I buy Corrugated Metal Pipe (CMP), Dual Wall HDPE, and farm drain tile in Central Iowa?
Leymaster Tile supplies a full inventory of CMP culverts, Dual Wall (HDPE) smooth interior pipe, and Single Wall agricultural drain tile. We serve contractors, municipalities, and agricultural operations across the Des Moines metro, Central Iowa, and Western Iowa, offering both yard pickup in Elkhart and job-site delivery.
Do you offer job-site delivery for culverts and drainage pipe?
Yes. Leymaster Tile does deliver CMP, Dual Wall HDPE, and agriculture drain tile directly to job sites, farms, and staging yards throughout Iowa. Contact our team to schedule delivery and coordinate unloading logistics.
Can you provide bids or material takeoffs for commercial, municipal, or DOT drainage projects?
Absolutely. We work directly with excavating contractors, developers, and engineers to provide competitive quotes on project plans, Iowa DOT-spec culverts, and large-scale storm sewer packages.
Does Leymaster Tile carry metal pipe?
Yes, Leymaster Tile stocks metal pipe (CMP pipe) in sizes from 6″ to 48″. These can be used in a variety of applications, including culverts, driveways and construction drainage.
What lengths of Corrugated Metal Pipe (CMP) do you keep in stock?
At our Elkhart location, we maintain a deep inventory of CMP in various standard lengths to keep your project moving without delays.
• Riveted Pipe: We stock standard lengths of 16′, 20′, 24′, 26′, and 30′.
• Spiral Pipe: We stock standard lengths of 20′ and 30′.
• Spiral Outlets: come in 2’, 6’, 10, 12’ & 20 lengths.
Are custom lengths available?
Yes, we understand that construction sites don’t always fit standard measurements. If your project specifications require a specific length, we can accommodate custom orders to help reduce on-site cutting and waste.
Please contact our Elkhart office at (515) 344-0422 to discuss your project requirements or to request a quote on custom lengths.
What is Corrugated Metal Pipe (CMP) typically used for?
CMP is the industry standard for driveway culverts, road crossings, storm sewers, and agricultural field entrances. Its corrugated design provides high structural strength to handle heavy axle loads while remaining cost-effective.
What gauges and coatings are available for CMP culverts?
CMP is available in standard thicknesses ranging from 16-gauge (light/residential) up to 10-gauge (heavy infrastructure). Standard galvanized steel is most common, but we also provide aluminized and polymer-coated options for projects requiring extended service life in corrosive soil or water conditions.
What size CMP culvert do I need for a driveway or field entrance?
Driveway culverts typically range from 12” to 24” in diameter, though county or municipal road departments often dictate the required minimum size based on local watershed flow. Always check local county engineering specs before ordering.
Do you stock CMP bands, couplers, and end sections (flared ends)?
Yes. Leymaster Tile stocks matching connecting bands, hugger bands, gaskets, and safety/flared end sections (aprons) to complete your CMP culvert installation according to code.
Do you carry both Single Wall and Dual Wall Pipe?
Yes, Leymaster Tile stocks both. We maintain a full inventory of single wall agricultural drain tile (for field drainage) and dual wall (HDPE) pipe (for culverts and structural drainage) at both our Elkhart and Cedar Falls yards.
Does Leymaster Tile carry Dual Wall (HDPE) Pipe?
Yes. Leymaster Tile stocks a large inventory of Dual Wall High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipe at both our Elkhart and Cedar Falls locations.
What sizes are available for HDPE pipe?
We maintain a wide range of diameters—typically spanning from 4” up to 36”—and we stock the necessary connecting bands, couplers, and fittings to ensure a soil-tight or water-tight installation. Larger diameters can be ordered.
What lengths does your Dual Wall (HDPE) pipe come in?
The industry standard for Dual Wall (HDPE) pipe is 20-foot sticks, which is what we primarily stock at both our Elkhart and Cedar Falls locations.
What is Dual Wall (HDPE) pipe, and why is it used for storm drainage?
Dual Wall High-Density Polyethylene (often called N-12 or smooth interior pipe) features a corrugated exterior for structural stiffness (H-20/HL-93 traffic loading) and a smooth inner wall for maximum hydraulic flow rate (Manning’s n = 0.012). It is lightweight, chemically inert, and resistant to rust and abrasion.
What is the difference between Dual Wall HDPE and Single Wall corrugated pipe?
Single Wall pipe has ridges on both the inside and outside, making it flexible and ideal for sub-surface agricultural or foundation drainage. Dual Wall has a smooth interior liner fused inside the corrugations, which drastically increases flow capacity and structural load-bearing capacity, making it the preferred choice for culverts, road bores, and gravity storm sewers.
Is Dual Wall HDPE pipe approved for DOT and municipal projects in Iowa?
Yes, Dual Wall HDPE meeting AASHTO M294 / ASTM F2306 specifications is widely approved for Iowa DOT and municipal storm water, culvert, and right-of-way applications.
How do you connect Dual Wall HDPE pipe?
Dual Wall pipes are typically connected using integrated bell-and-spigot joints with rubber gaskets for soil-tight or water-tight connections, or via external split couplers for non-critical drainage runs.
Does Leymaster Tile carry Single Wall (Drain Tile)?
Yes. We stock 4” – 8” Drain Tile. We also carry high-quality, AASHTO M252-compliant Single Wall drain tile in 4” & 6” sizes at both our Elkhart and Cedar Falls locations.
What sizes and roll lengths are available for Single Wall Drain Tile?
We supply single-wall drain tile in diameters from 4″ up to 24″. Common sizes like 4″, 6″, and 8″ are available in flexible coils (ranging from 100’ up to 3,000’ maxi-coils) as well as 20-foot sticks for larger diameters.
Do you carry Outlets for drain tile systems?
Yes. We stock both Concrete Outlets (DR-306 Subdrain Outlet) and CMP Outlets designed to work hand-in-hand with our Single Wall drain tile. A properly built outlet is what protects your investment at the discharge end of the line — without it, you risk erosion at the outlet, bank sloughing, and a system that backs up or clogs over time.
• Concrete Outlets: Precast concrete outlet structures provide a heavy, permanent discharge point for field tiling and residential drainage. They hold their shape against freeze/thaw cycles, resist floating, and stand up to livestock and equipment traffic.
• CMP Outlets: Corrugated metal outlets are a cost-effective option for tile discharge, pond overflow, and ditch outlets. We can supply them with the accessories needed to finish the job right.
